Research stays and Collaborations

How will your research stays abroad contribute to achieve your project’s goal ?

Guillaume Drillet is part of the Environmental Impact Assessment research team at the DHI-NTU Centre, jointly established by DHI Singapore and Nanyang Technological University (NTU). For the realisation of the DEN-SELECT project, he will also work closely with the Department of Environmental, Spatial and Social Changes (ENSPAC) at Roskilde University (Denmark) and the Wimereux Marine station, University of Lille 1, France where he will take up a study stay of approximately 5 months. He will also undertake 3 research stays at the National Taiwan Ocean University (4 months in total).

At ENSPAC, Guillaume will collaborate with Prof. Benni W. Hansen who has expertise in copepod culture and resting eggs in Danish sediments. Benni has been involved in several projects studying copepods and other zooplankton during more than 25 Years. He will be in charge of evaluating the project’s advancement.

At the Laboratory of Oceanography and Geosciences in Wimereux, Guillaume will collaborate with Prof. Sami Souissi who has cultivated Eurytemora affinis for more than 9 years. Part of his research group is aimed at developing copepod cultures for the aquaculture sector, in close collaboration with the large national aquarium NAUSICAA. Sami has a strong record of studying copepod population and modelling.

At the National Taiwan Ocean University, Prof. Jiang-Shiou Hwang will share his experience in aquaculture systems, as copepod feed is already in use in commercial fish farms in Taiwan. Guillaume will also beneficiate from Jiang’s contacts in the aquaculture sector.

Finally, Dr. Claudia Halsband-Lenk will serve as an external scientific advisor in order to optimise the output of DEN-SELECT. Claudia has a track record in zooplankton ecology and has previously worked on copepod selection in the natural environment.
